KENTUCKY LIBERTARIANS WIN BALLOT ACCESS CASE

(Covington, KY 1/9/2020)  Federal Judge William O. Bertelsman found parts of Kentucky House Bill 114 to be discriminatory and therefore unconstitutional.  The judge ordered that Kentucky’s deadline for third party candidates to file Statements of Candidacy must be returned to April 1st.  Last year Republicans and Democrats passed HB 114 to move the deadline to January.  Libertarians argued that the General Assembly had moved the deadline for the purpose of restricting ballot access for third party candidates.   The Judge agreed.
